2018 MacBook Pro Clean Install Failing - Software Update Is Required, Then Errors

Hey Guys,

I am trying to do a clean install of MacOS Big Sur on my 2018 MacBook Pro. I made sure I set my machine to "Medium Security" and the Security option for booting external drive. I get the "a software update is required to use this startup disk" error. I click Update, and then it immediately says, "an error occurred installing the update."

Summary:
Any help would be appreciated on how to perform a clean (formatted) install of MacOS Big Sur on my 2018 MacBook Pro currently running MacOS Mojave.

Some hints at osxdaily.com that might help on your error. I think I also will do a clean install and are currently reading this article — Looks similar to how you did it with macOS 10.14.x.
