So I purchased a 2018 MacBook Pro 2.9Ghz i9 about a month ago and so far its been disappointing compared to my 2012 rMBP.

It is constantly hot when I'm not using it. I have no programs open when I shut the laptop and put it to sleep (at 100% battery). I'll come back the next day or a few hours later and it will be down to 40-60% left and the laptop will be hot. Sometimes the fan will even be on. I check the activity monitor but nothing looks out of place.

I also had an instance where I restarted the machine and my keyboard and trackpad did not work. It could a couple of reboots before finally getting it to work.

Called Apple but now I'm waiting on a repair appointment a few days out.

I know its not much to go off of but does anyone have an idea what might be causing the problem? I'm fully up to date on all software too.

Any help is appreciated
[doublepost=1536154872][/doublepost]Follow up...got some logs and keep seeing this error repeated hundreds of times:
2018-09-04 18:58:36.932857-0400 0x17273f Default 0x0 0 0 kernel: (AppleTopCaseHIDEventDriver) [HID] [ATC] [Error] AppleDeviceManagementHIDEventService::setWakeReason Error setting wake reason (reportID = 0xc5, Return Value = 0xe0005000)

In the Bridge OS Error thread, a tip given was to run “pmset -g log” to see what macOS reports as the wake up reason.
