When I boot into safe mode on the 2018 Macbook Pro the system is very sluggish. Any action takes multiple seconds to respond. Even simple actions like browsing files or selecting an option from the menu bar.

I also noticed login into safe mode fails the first time I enter credentials and requires a re-input of credentials and on login transition to desktop the screen flickers like a 'black curtain rolling up the screen'

Does anyone else experience this issue on the 2018 Macbook Pro ?

fyi I was in safe mode as I was trying to diagnose the BridgeOS issue which i'm experiencing. In normal boot, actions are responsive.

I don't know how much sluggishness is normal, but Safe Mode disables graphic acceleration and a number of other things so a certain slowdown or sluggishness is to be expected. It wasn't on a 2018 MBP but last time I booted into safe mode, the system definitely felt much less responsive than normal. Also the screen flickering and even screen tearing is perfectly normal to appear during login, Apple also writes this on their support pages for safe mode (and a couple of other side effects are listed there aswell).

If none of this appears outside safe mode then I see no reason to worry about it.
