Hi
I have a 2018 MBA so the dual core i5 with 8GB of RAM.
Trying to put together a 'first year' video of our baby in iMovie and it seems ok with 1080p stuff but anything 4K (as in most of my iPhone footage) is a struggle, it just stutters along but with the spec of the MBA, I did expect this..
However twice now the MacBook has literally rebooted itself in the middle of what I was doing and then complained it has crashed. One was during a 1080p iMovie export, its literally a 20 minute clip with some titles, text overlaid on video and a few transitions so hardly top end stuff. The second time was when I was exporting six 4K videos out of the Photos app, they were under a minute long each.
Is that normal under load to crash like that?
The fan spins up loud which I would expect when exporting video and the CPU goes up but the MacBook then just switched itself off and back on again.
Thanks
