Considering replacing my 13" 2015 MBP with a 2018 MBA. The most taxing activity I perform is connecting my pro to my TV via HDMI to stream xfinity, Netflix, etc... while on the road. Everything else is just browsing the web or playing with Garmin Home Port. I'm a very light user. After 3 years I have 99.46 gb of my 128 gb ssd available. Anyway, is the Y-series processor in the MBA powerful enough to provide as seamless experience? What are the performance differences between my 5th gen U-series i5 and the 8th gen Y-series i5? Thanks for any responses.

I have the 2015 13” too.

The MBA is slightly slower I think, and certainly has slower wifi, but it will stream for sure. And any video decoding through the T2 will be substantially faster than the Pro.

Overall, bit of a wash is my view. Certainly the MBA will be great for streaming.

I have an early 2015 13" Air too and hit just over 500 Mbps down using speedtest.net. My cable internet download speed is 500 Mbps.
