What’s up with Apple’s SSD options for the new MacBook Air? 128, 256, 512, then 1.5? Why not a 1TB option for less money? I’m assuming this is to push people to the MBP, but then why even offer an SSD above 512 for the MBA?

No idea really. I'm not sure many will buy the 1.5TB.

For $2599 (1.5TB and 16GB Ram) you could get a 13" MBP with 16GB Ram and 1TB SSD.

With USB-C and the speed of external drives these days, along with cloud storage, I'm not sure why anyone would need above 1TB on their machine. Unless they are dead set against cloud and external storage. But then I would question the importance of their data if it isn't backed up somewhere.

I understand your point. But, personally I like having my dropbox folder on my computer. Yes, I could move that folder to an external drive but that's another cost, and another thing to carry and not lose. It's simpler to have it on your computer and it's far easier to manage the folder using the OS's file manager than doing it on dropboxs' website which is super slow.
