I have an upgraded i7 version of the 15” 2018 MacBook Pro, and it feels hot after 5-10 mins of web browsing while using it on my lap. I’m new to MacBook, not sure this is normal or not. I can feel the heat is coming from the left side of the under panel.

Get yourself an app that reports the heat. Feeling hot and being hot are two different things. We all perceive heat different, but seeing hard metrics is better. I use iStat Menus, but there are others.

For point of reference, I'm seeing 50 to 60c in my 2018 i7 2.2GHz MBP surfing, and my 2015 iMac, I'm floating around 50 to 55c.

@kevjen888 - @maflynn brings up some good points here. just to give even more reference my 2017 i7 shows 40c at one sensor (smcFanControl, not compatible with 2018 models) and Intel power gadget shows 48c, this it with 16 tabs open, not all being actively used
