Completely different question but how about comparing last years spec'd out 15" vs todays spec'd out 15"?

So a 2018 2.9 i9 6-core, 32GB RAM, 1TB, Vega 20 versus a 2019 2.4 i9 8-core, 32GB RAM, 1TB, Vega 20.

If someone had last years is there much of a difference in those extra cores?

Here's your answer (spoiler alert - the 2019 crushes the 2018 as far as benchmarks go)

That’s not an answer. The OP was asking about comparing 6 core models. That comparison compares this years 8 core to last years 6 core so of course its going to be faster.

OP the difference is negligible in speed between this years and last years for the 6 core machines. You do get the supposedly fixed keyboard though with the 2019.
