Friend is asking if she should update her base model 2019 MBA to Big Sur. She's currently still on Mojave. For folks who have this model and Big Sur installed, is it performing as well as it was on Mojave? I'm worried of its performance as it has a 1.6GHz dual core processor.

its only a couple years old, its unlikely to have any performance issues for a while on new OS's.

We have a base 2018 MacBook Air, and have been running Big Sur since it's release, with no problems at all.

For what it is worth, I have been running Big Sur on my 2015 MBA (4GB of RAM) without any problems at all.
For an additional what's its worth, Big Sur performance on my i5 2012 MBA that also has 4Gb ram is fantastic and really has brought new life to it. Big Sur is really a performance boost over Catalina. For OP, remind your friend running Mojave that 32 but apps will not work anymore with Sur.

just a few inputs. I came back to my 2020 Intel Air (gave it to the kids for remote school). I also have many M1s so I was surprised how smooth and fast it is I have 8GB/512. Reason was to try the beta of Monty. Anways. Even better smoother after install.

Thanks for all the input everyone! Sounds like she doesn't need to worry about performance degrading. @Jack Neill Good call on the 32-bit apps, I'll double check but she's mostly doing basic stuff on her MBA.
