Last June I picked up a (new) 13" MacBook Pro. Around September I noticed that the 'A' key was chipping. Not a big deal although every time I touch the key while typing I can physically feel the defect. Again, in and of itself not a big deal but now the 'D' key is starting to chip off as well so I am starting to wonder as time goes on how many other keys will eventually chip.

I have done a bit of research on the forums and elsewhere, and it seems a few people have had similar problems but there is not too much discussion about it. Thus, has anybody experienced the issue with more than one key chipping? If so, did you contact Apple about it and how was it resolved?

For what it is worth, I don't have long finger nails nor do I wear any rings/jewelry that would scratch the keys.

Initially, I had the command key chip on my Macbook Pro 2018 after a few months. Apple replaced the key cap under warranty for me, even though I had to go to an Apple Store twice (first visit to show them the issue and a second time to get the key cap replaced).

In the meantime, two more keys are chipped. Funnily enough, it's also the A key in my case (and the S key) that need to be replaced. I guess, another two Apple Store visits are due... Luckily, I bought Apple Care, otherwise I'd already be out of warranty.

Thank you for letting me know about your experience. Will probably bite the bullet and head in at some point. Hopefully if the two chipped keys are replaced that more keys do not start chipping later.
