Hi all,

I just purchased my 2019 macbook pro and also got the twelve south staygo hub to go with it.

When I have everything hooked up with the apple charger connected to the staygo hub, everything works. However when I unplug the power from the hub, it turns off.

The battery is 100% so I'm wondering why it is doing this? Does a power source need to be connected at all times when you have an external monitor connected?

Any ideas/help?

TIA!

It is bit confusing what "turns off" - monitor or hub - or both? But large multiport hubs normally require power or they will power off. They do not have internal battery. The large ones designed to provide power to the Mac will turn off when power is diisconnected - and so will monitor passing through.
This does not apply to smaller dongles which may allow usb-c power to pass through, but will use MBP as source for their operations.
The best is to look in the manual or on teh web site and see, if that specific device you may have will run using computer power or not.

Thanks for the reply!

It's actually the computer that just goes to sleep, I did a bit more digging and I think it is because I have it in closed clamshell mode. Which I guess would make sense, if it the lid is closed and no power is going theough it will sleep?

Maybe someone can confirm this?

I tried looking on the manufactuers site (Twelve South) but couldn't find anything needing power.
