2019 Sport Loop and compass compatibility

I was planning on selling the Sport Loop that I got with my S6 with my S4 but I notice on Apples website that the Sport Loop was updated with the launch of the S5 to be compatible with the compass.

With a quick test my old Sport Loop seems to work with the compass, but I don't know how well it will work yet.

Anyone who knows if there are any issues with the first gen (pre S5) Sport Loop and the compass or if it works as it should?

It may impact the compass. I don't see my old S3 sport loop impacting the compass on the watch or on the phone, when it is not attached. But: the first time I put the sport loop on the watch and tried the compass, the compass was not oriented correctly. It was off by close to 180 degrees. I was puzzled by this and so didn't spend a lot of time trying to figure that out, and took it off and put the solo loop back on (the compass worked fine). But now that I have tried again, at times it does seem like the compass may be off, so it is a bit hard to tell. I haven't ever used a compass on my watch, so hard to know how accurately that orients. Also, my phone compass is set to point to true north, and I can't tell if my watch compass is as well, so some of the error I am seeing may be declination. But given my experience this am, I would not trust the compass using the old sport loop.

I have an S4 watch so I can't comment on compass performance, but if I hold the connector on one of my older sport loops against the watch charging puck which has a strong magnet, the connector sticks. if I do the same with one of my newer sport loops, it doesn't.

I decided to sell it with the old band and keep the new one. But I don't like the sport loop and my woven nylon does not work at all with the compass. Apple hasn't updated their site yet with compass compatibility of the new solo loops but a braided one may be in my future.
