I am a little concerned about the battery temperatures I see in iStat Menus when my computer is working. The "Battery 2" temperature always seems to be higher than the "Battery 1" temperature (+4C) and the "Battery 2" temperature is usually up near 40C.

What are other 2020 13" MBP owners seeing for their battery temperatures? Isn't 40C a little high (shortening the usable life of the battery)?

Could there be something wrong with my battery sensor that one is generally 4C higher than the other one?

Mine hovered around 50C on my base 10th Gen. The difference in temperature is normal as one stacked battery is closer to the CPU/GPU and will absorb some of that heat thru diffusion.

Because the fans will completely shut off if temperatures are within a set range the best thing you can do is set a custom fan profile

Is your reference to 50C the battery’s temperature? Are they usually the same?
