Hi All,

My wife's Macbook Air recently had a major problem...display was not being recognized. It would only have a blank screen. I hooked it up to an external monitor and it worked okay. It was covered by Apple Care, so it was repaired for free. They replaced the logic board, display, Touch ID board, TCON board flex cable. My question is has anyone else seen these repairs for the 2020 Macbook Air? I'm wondering if it was a hardware issue that others have encountered. I have never needed a major repair like this (especially within 1 year of purchase).

The repair sheet includes all those parts as result of "camera- no video" and camera issue. Which I thought was a bit weird.

Lemme know!

The camera and its cables run through the display frame, together with the WiFi cables so it makes senses that the display was replaced.

The TouchID is tied to a security chip on the logic board so both need to be replaced. Replacing one or the other prevents TouchID from working.

I get how those parts are interconnected...just not how a faulty camera can result in the laptop not recognizing its display. I didn't send it in cause the camera wasn't working...sent it in because the LCD wasn't turning on with the computer. Was suprised to see the "symptom" (their words in the summary) as "Camera Issue"s.

Still, I'm just wondering if this is a more widespread issue in the MBA 2020 or just a fluke. Seems like just a fluke.

It could be that they just found another problem or something like that.
I recently sent in my 16" MBP for repair as my TouchID/power button wasn't working. When I got it back the "TouchID Board" had been replaced which is what I expected, but it also said "Top Case replacement". There was a battery error and they replaced the Top Case/battery as well. I didn't have any issues, but they found that and replaced it as well. Good service, IMO.

I picked up a 2020 MBA (base) not too long ago, so I haven't had any issues with it yet.
