Hey I was hoping you guys could point me in the right direction. I’m currently looking to buy a new MacBook Pro . The last Mac I owned was the colorful desktop bubble model so it’s been a while. I have determined the MacBook Pro is the best option for me in the Mac lineup. However which one is what’s holding me up. I don’t update to newer laptops every year. Ideally I want one to last as long as possible. I’m reading on here that the cheaper models come with 8th gen chips which would be fine for me currently. However if I spend the extra 600 and get the 10 gen chip would I get more longevity out of it? I’m going to assume 8<10 when it comes to future proofing but I’d like to make sure before I pull the trigger on one.
thank you for your time and help!

Generally, Apple discontinued old products from macOS updates based on model year, not spec in a specific release. You should be fine with the lower spec machine for a while if that works for you now.
