A couple of days into lockdown my 27 inch iMac died.

I grabbed a 2015 MBA (4mb ram) I have and used it for work, I’ve been using it ever since.

My daily routine is mostly browser based, (Inc weekly live show) and some google docs work thrown in. However I create 3-4 20 -30 minute videos a week which I edit in screenflow.

I’ve been surprised that the MBA has coped so well with the work I have to do.

Exporting 30 minute videos takes about 40 minutes or so and the fan spins up to 4250 rpm, I was also able to do a live video call with a client at the same time as exporting.

The bottom line is I’m really surprised I am able to work so well on the MBA. So I’m thinking of ditching the iMac when I can finally get to the Apple store and getting a 2020 MBA.

I assume that it will be considerably better than the 2015 MBA and the export times will be quicker, I’m aware of the thermal issues but if the MBA performs better I’ll just export at the end of the day.

Don't know how big the improvement is, but it certainly is a capable machine.
