Currently running Monterey.. I have not tried any newer OS's simply out of fear of losing compatibility with the software I use day to day. 8GB RAM, M1.

I've read mixed reviews on the best OS to upgrade to. Am I best leaving it alone, or trying some of the newer? Would love access to the features that come with Sequoia, but not if it impacts compatibility or performance.

Curious what the hive thinks?

I doubt you're running any day to day software that's incompatible with Sequoia. I'd upgrade. Your M1 Mac will easily run it. But just to be sure, why not mention what software you're worried about? Or check with the developers to make sure it's compatible (almost everything is).
