I am SUPER happy after having purchased a Sonnett ePuck 5700 XT eGPU. Came from a 2013-era iMac which was just getting long in the tooth, bought a 2020 Mac Mini, i7, 64gigs RAM. Nice machine but just SUCKED with the Intel integrated GPU. Even the UI seemed slow, scrolling in Firefox seemed slow and forget doing anything with video.

Sucked because I had limited options since I was using a LG 48CX as my monitor (aka can't use an iMac easily anymore). M1 Mini was option but I need to run some stuff in Windows 10 in Parallels so was gonna stick with Intel for a few years at least.

Enter $900 Sonnett epuck. Fits nicely on my desk, 5700 XT is a little dated but still fast as heck. Metal 3d FPS went from 3 to if I remember right 120 fps!

UI is smoother, video export is fast, playing on screen 4k HDR in Chrome is smooth and gorgeous. War Thunder in Steam gets 80GPS at high resolution and max settings...

Saved me from losing my mind..

Yep, I'm also happy with my tricked out Intel mini with Vega64 eGPU. Expect to use it for the next say 5 years.

Bought it 3-4 months before the M1 mini came out, but crucially the M1 mini cannot support my triple monitor setup so ruled itself out anyway.
