2020 - USB-C vs HDMI lag

Hello I just bought my MBA (2020 16GB RAM 1.1 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5) and I am lagging on USB-C more than I am on HDMI.

I have a HDMI 2.1cord and have tested both on the monitor I also recently purchased for work.

The monitor is capable of doing 4k.

Whenever I am on USB-C I get a lag. The monitor also does PD.

But when I use HDMI, I do not lag.

Anybody else experiencing this on the more current MBA's?

If you connect via USB-C and also plug in the factory USB-C charging cord, does the lag continue?
Does the monitor have a hub built in and, if so, what are you connected to?
Have you been able to try a different USB cable?
Can you verify that the refresh on HDMI and USB-C (DisplayPort) are both 60 hz?
