It is the first time I see the option to pick up a 2021 Macbook Pro in store. (except if it was currently in stock in said store)

Before today the only option was to get it deliver.

This is for Montreal, Canada. Not sure about other cities around the world, maybe it was already available?

I’m seeing it now too, for Jan 5th. I’ll be (hopefully) getting my base M1 Pro by EOM, but probably beneficial for others who are on the fence about getting one ordered.

First time seeing them as a specific day to pickup in store vs just saying not available for pickup…If you‘re looking for something in-store it looks generally to be the base or mid-tier 16.

The MBP Max 16 now available for pickup tomorrow in Edinburgh, Aberdeen & Glasgow 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢

This has been this way for a few days now in Germany, but it is just the same day as the estimated shipping date, so I think they are just literally shipping it to the store instead of shipping it to you directly. Doesn't really make much sense imo

I'm in the US and its been available every day at my local store and in the two surrounding stores about an hour away.

Shocked when I ordered my 16” on Tuesday around 4pm and had option (for $9) to have it delivered between 6-8pm that day. Got it around 6:30, set it up and enjoying it as we speak. love the space grey. I'm in Akron, OH.

Seeing the 16 M1 Max stock config in stock in some stores in LI/NY area today...also top stock config of 14"

I stand corrected. After watching for weeks today was the day they added M1 max stock in my area! On my way to pick it up now!!

I was lucky and our local store had a few 16 inch 16gb 1tb units. I was able to return my MBA to Best Buy and run right over to the Apple store and buy it right away.

Buy with confidence folks, great machine. I'd recommend downloading a fan control app like:

The free version lets you set a constant speed and that is more than good enough for my use and helps keep the chip just a bit cooler.

I think that Apple is producing a lot of the standard configurations and they ship some in-store so they have some to sell. It make sense. I’m also in Montreal and I’ve been looking every few days just for fun and some configurations get in stock and they sell out.

If you’re looking for one of the 5 differents standards configurations and have an Apple store near by, they will have stock at some point. Same for Best Buy, Staples, etc

I have a feeling fan control won't be a thing to worry about in the next Pro generation...as many can see the fans don't even run until the machine is taxed in the new Pros with the new Apple chips...Apple wants a fan-free Pro like the current Air so the can add battery capacity. (or reduce body volume) This gen has fans b/c the chips are close to not needing a cooling solution...close. *fan cooled solution

I run my fans because heat is the death of electronics and there is no reason to run the chips at 45c during light browsing for no reason.

Uhhhh have you seen how hot Apple runs the the 10 cores and up? Having a completely passive solution will make laptops too bulky. The reason Apple doesn’t run fans is because they don’t want the laptop to make noise, not because they’re close to “not needing a cooling solution”. You can’t defeat the laws of thermodynamics when you’re running intensive applications.

The 14" base model in space gray seems to be out-of-stock and on "backorder" at numerous places here in the Northeast (USA).

I ordered one the Sunday after Black Friday from a well-know photo/computer reseller in NYC, on sale, but was out of stock for the moment. No new stock yet...
