Hello everyone. I've been thinking about getting the new magic keyboard without Touch ID for my iPad Air 4. How is the responsiveness of the keyboard over bluetooth? Any issues with the keyboard? I'm basically looking into getting the iMac magic keyboard rather than the iPad magic keyboard due to price. What do you guys think?

Well, I'm sure you realize you'll be saving money but also losing the convenience of the trackpad on the iPad Magic Keyboard along with the far easier portability and built-in stand functionality. Personally, I'd spend the extra money and get the iPad Magic Keyboard. But I can guarantee you the standalone Magic Keyboard will be perfectly responsive over Bluetooth, so no worries there.

Thank you for your advice. I understand I will be losing portability but I have my 2020 MacBook Air to type on the go for uni work. I'm basically using the iPad Air for a device at home and alternate device for my wife to type papers and do work on canvas at home. I will be looking into getting a mouse as well. My iPad will be used for teaching purposes next school year. My thinking is the magic keyboard would be more versatile if I choose to get a Mac mini down the road.

Then you might want to get the one with TouchID so you could use that with the Mac Mini if you're not planning on buying another Magic Keyboard.

Is it necessary to have the TouchID one for use with the new Mac mini?
