Constantly needs to be reset by unplugging. Device will not turn on. Remote constantly disconnects. Black screen of death upon startup.
Connected to Sony Hz9f Soundbar through E-Arc then to LG 75 inch 4K UHD.
I don’t need any sympathy or advice. Just warning people that this Apple TV version sucks ass!

And what happens if you plug it directly into the TV? How does it behave then?

If you have a fairly new TV, then you should probably plug the ATV 4K 2022 128GB directly into the TV then plug the TV directly into the soundbar. BTW, like @StumpyBloke, my ATV 4K 2022 128GB works perfectly fine. But I’m not hooking mine up in a backasswards way.

I'm getting some of the remote disconnects but other than running hotter because it has no fan, I haven't noticed anything else. As others mentioned if your tv is newer and has e-arc it's better to connect the soundbar to the tv rather than the appletv. That would also help isolate the issue because right now there's an extra variable thrown in and then you have to consider both HDMI cables.

Zero issues with mine, just like my 1st get 4K (which is still working flawlessly in the basement). Your setup may be part of the issue as you would typically input from the ATV directly into the TV, then output from the TV eARC to your soundbar.

And conversely, mine has been absolutely faultless apart from the occasional glitch with the YouTube app itself.
Do you also experience the YouTube app freezing (sometimes a black screen, especially when you put the AppleTV to sleep when the YT app is active?

It’s the worst.

No nothing like that that I have noticed. I think the biggest issue for me is when I'm watching a video on YouTube and then I go to my HomeKit cameras, and then back to YouTube the video has defaulted back to 4 ATP so I have to increase the resolution again. But to be honest, I think that's as bad as it gets. As I say, it's been rocksolid. Oh, just thought, I am on the 16.3 beta on the ATV as well. Maybe that helps…?

What is the point of such connection?
I would connect the tv eARC to soundbar HDMI OUT (eARC) and the appleTV to one of the 2 HDMI inputs on the soundbar.
TV does not support all audio formats, but soundbar does.

HDMI OUT with eARC on the soundbar is meant to be connected to TV HDMI IN with eARC.
AppleTV as a pure signal source should be connected directly to Soundbar HDMI IN.
ARC is only needed to send audio from TV back to external amplifier.
Main usecase - internal apps on TV.
Optional usecase - any signal source connected to other inputs on the TV.
But as your soundbar provides 2 HDMI input ports, I would connect appleTV directly there and thereby eliminate the possibility of TV software interfering and transforming the audio it needs to pass through to ARC return channel.
Soundbar knows how to separate picture from sound and send image to TV (via HDMI OUT) and send sound intrinsically to its speakers.

For some reason people tend to overestimate the ARC channel. It is mostly useless. Only if you need to use TV onboard apps, comes it into play.
All external signal sources should be directly connected to soundbar/AVR.

Works great on my tv!!! Try connect the atv to the tv and not through the soundbar.

Mine is working great plugged into my denon to my Lg 77” UHD tv.
Consider exchanging it? You do have warranty still, right?

Just installed mine today. So far it’s working great for us on Wi-Fi 6.

You might want to just get it exchanged.

Mines been the same since I got it. CEC power control just doesn't work either. It's the buggiest Apple product I've ever owned. I caved and switched back to my last gen one and it's perfect.
