Apologies if this is the incorrect forum for this. I have been trialling the big-name Cloud services and finding it tricky to find one that covers all the bases.
My own personal needs are
- 2 TB minimum Cloud backup with efficient sync
- Back up of several locations. Desktop, Documents and internal drives
- Syncing of files across 2 or more computers,
- Easy to share files and folders via finder
- iOS app
- Timestamped comments on audio or video media files
- Intuitive
All the below offer Cloud back up at reasonable prices and work well.
DropBox - the best I have tried with one big catch, you can't sync secondary internal drives. You can sync Desktop, Documents, DropBox folder and external drives - but not internal drives other than the OS. Seems crazy and I have been on to DB support but there you are...
The smart syncing to secondary computer is great.
iOS app is also great
Has great media player with timestamped comments.
I find it very intuitive and easy to share files and folders, shame about the internal drive thing.
Google Drive - this is very good too, and will sync internal drives, however it doesn't have a great interface for making comments and I believe no time stamping
Perhaps not as intuitive as DropBox, but that might be me. I also think the interface is not as appealing, minor.....
iCloud - my least favourite of the 3 mainly because it is really not that intuitive for things other than simple syncing. Especially when it comes to sharing files and folders with it forcing people to add folders to their own iCloud.
No external or internal drive backup either, or media player for comments.
Are there other services I have missed. I have tried and actually use iDrive, but it is cheap for a reason and more of a simple backup rather than sync and share. Same for BackBlaze.
