History: purchased new 2025 15” Macbook Air M4 24gb 1tb, came with Sequoia, restored from time machine backup of older Intel MacBook Air OCLP Sequoia, noticed some issues with installed programs and waited till Tahoe was released to see if it would correct any of the issues. I felt like there was some leftover code from OCLP. Upgraded to Tahoe RC (25A353) didn’t solve any issues. Upgraded to Tahoe public release (25A354) didn’t solve any issues.
Today: Tried the erase all content and settings in order to start fresh and not restore from the Time Machine backup, just transfer any files that I need from my local server back to my computer. Upon restarting only option was to restore MacOS Sequoia, I guess I assumed that the upgrade to Tahoe would upgrade the restore partition also, it did not. I connected the Air to a 2020 Mac Mini running upgraded from Sequoia to Tahoe in order to restore using Tahoe IPSW file from apple, connects fine using apple usb-c cable shows up in finder in DFU mode, asks me if I want to revive or restore, I select restore it downloads software from internet and says preparing Mac for restore for about 5 minutes then pops up with a message that this Mac cannot be restored.
Question: Am I missing a step here, do I have to reinstall sequoia first before using Tahoe IPSW to restore or is my IPSW just corrupt or something wrong with the Air?
Let me know if I need to provide any other information.
