I got a Mac mini duo core a couple months ago, and didn't learn until now that intel was coming out with new chips later this year. My question is, how much faster are the chips going to be (compared to my 1.66 Ghz duo core)?

Thanks

Intel is always coming out with newer and/or faster chips, after 25+ years you think people would have figure that out by now. :(

Yonah (Core Duo). 1.66 GHz - 2.33 GHz.
Merom (Core 2 Duo). Don't know the clock speeds, but I think they start at 1.83 GHz. The Merom will be 20% faster at equal clockingspeeds, be cheaper in price, and possibly consume less power.

BTW, there will be no Core 2 Solo.:p

I'm sure it is going to be better faster and cheaper. That is what always happens, but sometimes you just have to draw the line and buy something and be happy with it, because it will always get better.
