I have everything I need a new (refurbished) 2011 iMac, 128GB Crucial M4 SSD, 2TB Seagate Barracuda drive. My only question is How do I get the OS on to the new drives once they're in the iMac?

Just do a Google search for "create ML boot drive". You can use a USB thumb drive or DVD or just use carbon copy cloner.

Are the drives formatted? When I turn on the computer and OS isnt on the HD how do I move the file over? I have it on an external hd.

Open Disc utility, you should see your drives there. Go to erase and select Mac OS X Extended (I think it is set by default), hit erase. Takes a minute or two.

Insert your thumb drive, restart your mac while holding "option", then select the thumb drive and go from there.
