21.5" iMac will not read blank Memorex DVD +R

Hi all, happy holidays!

I have a 21.5" iMac 3.06ghz 8gb RAM running 10.7.2, and when I insert a blank Memorex DVD +R, the disc icon does not appear on the desktop nor is it recognized in Finder... To eject, I enter Utilities/Disk Utility and eject in this manner.

Blank CDRs, commercial music CDs, commercial DVDs all work fine. The Memorex discs work normally on my late 2010 MBP. I have tried roughly 20 blank discs and none seem to work normally.

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this? Any resolutions or tips?

Try searching for firmware update. MOst of the types support for blank media comes with firmware updates.
