I have a problem with my SuperDrive on my iMac. Every time I try burning a DVD the SuperDrive scratches the disks up. I did a search and seen this is a common problem w the late 09 iMacs. The iMac is out of warranty, is there a site that would sell just the SuperDrive so I can replace it myself instead ing of taking into the apple store? Any help would be appreciated

Superdrive

I had the same problem, the superdrive is about £80 GBP in the uk so it would be a lot cheaper in the US. Why not speak to the Genius bar and get a quote for a new drive, it is better that they replace it than mess the whole machine up for the sake of a 100 bucks.

As it is a common fault speak nicely to them grovel a bit and they may do for free. You can only try.

I had my one replaced.
