Blu-Ray in new PowerMacs after all? (look)

Well just surfing around today and found this Blu-Ray drive really cheap so it could trickle down to the PowerMac sooner than later at that cost $499 by Samsung. I'm sure that Apple would get a good deal to buy these in a large supply demand. Hoping that it would be cheaper once it is put into a Mac but at least this is a big price drop for the near future

Adding to the confusion they don't actually state to my eyes which flavour of HD disk it actually supports. I suspect it really is an HD DVD drive though and not Blueray, if it is the latter then it is extremely poorly advertised as such. The drive of course is read only of HD media not write like the one mentioned in the top post.

Toshiba is the main company behind HDDVD, so I'm sure that's what they use in their laptops, not BluRay.

Yeah, it's HD-DVD in the Toshiba. I've seen the monster laptop in person too.

The thing about High Definition anything is that it ALWAYS looks better on higher resolutions. In a laptop it's overpriced and unthinkable.

Yep, but as a price point for those that have said in most recent threads it won't happen until next year this is good for Blu-Ray and or HD-DVD. How big was that monster? Funny I've seen some laptops as of late that look like my girlfriends old Gateway Laptop, you know the 2" thick units that weigh a ton

This might give some of us an idea as to a brand in mind for future supplies since price will matter to some, i.e. $3200 for a top of the line PM or $3600 with Blu-Ray just might make people take the extra jump (or not).
The real thing about the post was "very promising" lower price points to start with that will only get lower
Now as far as media, $20 for a disc Better not make any coasters at that price point.
