Has anybody managed to offload MacBook RAM?

I put a 1GB stick in my MB last night so I now have a spare 256MB stick floating around. My question is for those of you who have replaced your MB RAM - is there any demand for 256 sticks? I'd love to sell it on eBay but does anybody actually buy it?

The best way to find out if people are buying it is to look for auctions for it, watch them in My eBay, and see if they sell or not. 🙂

TBH you're better off keeping it if you can as you can swap it back in if you have any problems and need to send it back to be repaired. Otherwise Apple could (rightly or wrongly) blame the ram.

j26 has the idea here--

I've had my powerbook repaired 4 times, and they always make me remove the added 512 stick, and have just the original ram in. You don't want to give Apple techs a nice easy escape.

You might be able to sell it to people for other purposes. For example the new Dell (at least new to the UK) 3110cn takes 200pin DDR2 SO-DIMMS, just like the MacBook. You might be able to shift the 256Mb DIMMS to owners of these printers (and others with similar capabilities)...

i've yet to see anyone successfully sell this stuff, so I'm just keeping mine in case I ever need to send my mb in for repair.

Yes, that is normally one of their first questions that they ask when you report a problem.

really? nice to know.....whenever people complain about apple's RAM prices they always say that part of the savings when buying from a 3rd party supplier is because you're going to sell your existing ram on ebay.....oh well

Where did you see that? Right now on ebay some guy is selling the sticks that came with his mini. It ends in one minute and nobody has bid on them. They are 1 dollar.
