Hi,

I am a bit of an anime nut and recently downloaded a subbed Cowboy Bebop on bittorrent. They are currently are Avi files, with a video codec that is wmv9 @ 1200 kbps. The files look roughly like this...

[KAA]_Cowboy_Bebop_01.DVD_[B1A46EE1][wm9_VCM].AVI|212858116|0A88B07E43F961A7D5C5F242E5F70079|/

I have been using iSquint to convert most of my anime to MP4, but iSquint just wont do this one, coming up with an error straight away, and giving me this problem log (sorry about the lenght).

I am guessing that it is something to do with iSquint not being able to do that codec? I also tried playing it in my up to date DivX player which also doesnt work, playing but showing no picture or sound.

I have no idea what to do next to get them to play. I like to keep my anime in iTunes under videoes, but I would be just as happy to be able to burn these files I have downloaded onto a DVD and be able to play them, that way I could just rip them back in Handbreak. Hell, I would be just happy to play them at all.

Can anyone help me out? I would hate to think all that time downloading them was wasted! A free copy to anyone who can give me a working solution :p!

Any help at all would be really appreciated as I am quite stumped!

Try MPEG Streamclip

I would try MPEG Streamclip. I think it will do what you want it to. I use it to convert MPEG 2 files to DV so that I can use them in iMovie. I believe it can convert AVI files as well.

If you just want to convert .avi to .mp4, Quicktime Pro will do that. You just need the DivX codec installed.

Even though the output from ffmpeg clearly states the file is WMV9? ;)

QuickTime Pro and Flip4Mac Player Pro should do what you need OP.

Does anyone know of any that are free, or at least on a short trial. Not wanting to sound cheap or anything mind  but I will probably only need to use it once to convert Bebop, as all the rest work just fine with iSquint. Quicktime pro I know definately isnt free, and I am guessing neither is Flip4Mac. Not sure I really want to fork out for just one anime, specially being a poor student and all :p!

That said, knowing my luck there probably arent any...
