22" LCD Buying Advice

Looking to buy a new 22" LCD as an external monitor for my MBA... I will be replacing a 22" Acer (1680 x 1050). The monitor I have now looks TERRIBLE compared to my MBA screen... the colors look washed out and just terrible...

I see there is a sale for $99 for some acer online with a higher resolution, but in all honesty, I don't want it if its going to look like the monitor I have now.

Any advice/suggestions? Obviously I'd rather have an ACD, but I think its a bit out of my price range and I do like the 22" size, preferably @ 1080p

If $99 is your range then there won't be a whole lot of 22" 1080p in that range.
theres this cinema display, which is 1920x1200 and not 1080 but its a cinema display.
