Hiya, long time MR reader, first poster. Sorry I know this question has come up before but I couldn't find the exact answer to the problem I'm facing.

Anyway, last Tuesday I took delivery of a 23" ACD and all was good (no dead/stuck pixels, excellent!) until I ran LCD Test on it and looked at it on the black screen image and to my horror there were 4 bright white patches around the middle of the screen stretching to the corners.

Looking at it from a slight angle it appears there is a huge dark oval in the middle of the screen and looks very offputting. It is even annoying in screensaver/Front Row etc.

Basically I know the last chance to send it back is this coming Tuesday and I don't know what to do. From what I have been reading this was a common problem at one point, has it been fixed now and have I just got a bad one from an old batch?

Essentially I am on a Uni Campus therefore returning it would be a pain with regards to shipping as the mail room is some way away and I don't know how they deal with big external packages.

My question is basically would this be grounds for a return at an Apple Store as in a couple of months when I head back home and have access to my car I could easilly take it in, or should I just try and return it now?

Its not that big a deal for working, but highly annoying when working at night with dark images. Also VERY annoying since I had to justify the extra price premium for what I thought would get me a better display/fit in asthetically with the rest of my room.

EDIT: Having looked at the Apple store policy again it appears for defects there is no 14 day limit therefore would it just be simplier to try and bargin an exchange at an Apple store with a 'genius'.
