23" ACD in UK...is it a safe deal?

I have been looking to purchase a 2nd 23" ACD for a while and have been offered a brand new and boxed one for £400.

The thing is, when I asked the seller for the serial number to check the age and warranty status, he said he checked the box and there's no serial number on the box and he said he suspected this was due to it being bankrupt stock.

Would you trust the seller? My concerns are, I don't want a pre mid-2006 model, and if it's bankrupt stock, it's highly likely that there will be no Apple Care remaining.

Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

Personally, I wouldn't do it. Think about it. You're spending 400 quid and don't know what you could be getting, nor do you have the assurance that you'll get protection. Anything happends, and 400 quid goes down the drain. You're better off spending a bit more and getting an Apple refurb.

I've never seen a refurb ACD in the UK....would be nice though :)

I know for £526 I can get one with HE Discount but that just pushes it out of my price range :(
