Hello,

I'm having an odd display sleep problem with my 23" Cinema Display. Please see this thread for more info.

In a nutshell, it seems that the USB cable or hub coming from the display is preventing the display from waking from sleep properly. I'm trying to find out whether it is an OS X glitch or a problem with my display. This behavior happens on both my Mac Pro and MacBook Pro, which have the same OS X version and patches installed.

Could you folks that own a 23" Cinema Display please follow the steps below and see if you notice the same behavior? Also please post what version of OS X you're running, and what patches you have installed. I'm running 10.5.6, and haven't yet installed the latest digital camera RAW update that came out earlier today.

1. Power down the computer.
2. Unplug the display's USB cable.
3. Turn on the computer, log into OS X.
4. Press Control-Shift-Eject to put the display to sleep. If you don't have an Apple keyboard, set up a hot corner in System Preferences for display sleep.
5. Check the LED behavior on the display's bezel. It should come on and stay on.
6. Move the mouse or press a key. The display should come back on.
7. Power down the computer again.
8. Plug in the display's USB cable.
9. Repeat steps 3 and 4 above.
10. Check the LED behavior. In my case, the LED comes on for about a second, then disappears. This should not happen like this.
11. Move the mouse or press a key. See if the display wakes up. In my case, the display refuses to wake up. It will only come on again if I power down the computer, unplug the monitor from the brick for a few minutes, then plug it back in.

Considering this glitch started happening recently, and also that it does not happen in Boot Camp with XP, I'm thinking a recent OS X patch may have messed some stuff up.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
