I've been searching around the forums and, although there seem to be similar threads on this topic already, I haven't been able to find one that coves my specific situation. So I apologize in advance if I missed an explanation to my question...

I have a 23" HD Apple Cinema display with a DVI connection. I also have a HD cable box with a HDMI connection. I am wondering if there is a way to use the display with my cable box as a HDTV (without going through my Macbook Pro). There must be more to it than simply using a DVI->HDMI cable, as I have already tried this without any luck.

If this is not possible, what option would you recommend for hardware to run the signal through my laptop?

Thanks for any help!

It should work... Have you heard of HDCP compliance?
If you device requires it, but your monitor doesn't have it, it won't display a picture.
That's the only thing I can think of, otherwise, there should be a tweak to get it working.
