The 23" PowerBook! Yayyy!

I'd personally love a 23 inch iMac but I can't see it happening. It'd tread to close to the Power Mac's toes IMO and yes, I fully realise that the Power Mac still offers much much more but 23 inches of real estate would make for a very pricey consumer Mac.

And dmw007, I love the new 'tar. :)

Agreed, the price of a 23" iMac G5 would just be too expensive!

Thank you, I thought it went well with my name.

when the 23" screen becomes the price of the 20" then yes a 23" iMac and powerbook is possible :p

If there is a drop in prices, then yes a 23" iMac is possible.

Although I have little hope of ever seeing a 23" PowerBook.

Imagine how thin it would be thou  you could fit like 3 Harddrives in it and two optical drives.

Now that would be awesome.

True, very true.

I fear however that the sheer weight would kill you just by picking it up or slinging it on your shoulder.

You put it in your backpack and then put your backpack on and just fall over :D

but it would be cool to say "hey want to burn this DVD while watching this one, all done on my laptop" :)

it should weigh like a PM

If Apple makes a 23" iMac, that thing should be as heavy as the PM. The current 20" model weighs about 25 lbs. For a 23", it should go close to 36 lbs. like a bottom line PM. I think it would be better if Apple includes the screen spanning feature on an iMac. For an All-in-One computer, a 23" screen can be too big (it's like getting a 20" PowerBook).

Hopefully they'd just get rid of that awful white space below the screen on the regular iMac's :)

nice use

This bothered me too at first. Then I figured it would be a great place to use for sticky notes... so that is what my white area is used for! become creative!

I can't imagine that a 23" PowerBook would be practical.

The 23" iMac sounds cool. Just a next step for the iMac.

Man, I'd love a 23" iMac. I just don't see it happening, at least not soon. iMacs are consumer machines and the average consumer doesn't need 23" of screen space. In fact, I wasn't convinced I needed a 20" iMac but I went ahead and splurged. Don't get me wrong, I love my 20". But I would have been happy with a 17".

A very nice space to place post it notes.

Personally, I use iMac G5's at college and the white space on the bottom does not bother me at all (a little in the begging, but not now).

I don't use sticky notes... But anyway the main problem for me is that unless i change my desk the screen will be way to high for me. The iMac is perfect if the base is set at the same level as the keyboard but my desk has the monitor up higher. It's built in so it will be hard to replace but its perfect for a monitor on it's own. I'd actually thought of going dual screen keeping my 2005FPW as my main screen but i'd have to use VGA rather than DVI for it and the iMAC would have blocked my window.

23" iMac

If you look at the iMac G4, the last revision had an expensive $2000+ model with a "huge" 20" screen. We could see the same here, or get it with the iMac "Intel 1" (whatever they call it.

I have no doubt that someday Apple or someone else will produce a 23-inch or larger portable computer. I'm being serious.

However, it won't look like a current laptop at all. Instead, it will have a folding or rolling screen, and it won't weigh much more than current laptops. With more and more people using laptops as their primary computers, the demand for more screen real estate will never cease.
