23 inch iMac in 2005?

Hi MacRumorians:

First post here so apologies if this has been posted already and I missed it.

I heard there is talk of releasing a 23 inch iMac this year. Does anyone have any info/confirmation on this?

No confirmation but if you want HD on an iMac you want a 23"
 
One of the reasons why I chose 17" iMac over 20" is that I don´t want to spend big bucks on a display that is not HD.
 
i'm waiting for an imac 23" as well.

the main problem with an imac hd is that you need a dual g5 2.0 to decode h.264 hd content. it's unlikely that a imac will be dual g5.

so i guess it will come out earliest when hardware accelerators for h.264 are available. or when dual core g5's are available. in both cases i can't see them before december or so.

a hd imac also would make a lot more sense if you could get hd via cable tv. that's another functionality to be built into the machine. so we are looking at something expensive that could be available end of 2005 or beginning of 2006.

then it will depend on the marketing research. if they find a imac HD is marketable we get one. if they think it will be to expensive to sell high numbers we will have to wait a long time till prices come down.

I have just finished paying of my credit cards and cancelling them so should have cash ready as soon as it is released either this year or early next year here's to hope :D
