Hi,

studio i work in had a cleaning month and we got rid of an old cinema ADC plastic display.

It still works. A year or so ago all of a sudden the brightness was cut down to almost half, and cannot be restored. Its still very usable, just not super cute, and flashy....
Anyone know the syndrome?

Is it possible, that something internally went so wrong that the display still works, but not properly?
would suspect that if something breaks internally it just isnt working at all.

THe next big question is offcourse if can it be mended somehow?

TIA

I would guess that one of the florescent backlight bulbs has quit.

I would guess the same. I know however that it's probably not worth fixing. Any tech center that may repair it most likely won't get the needed part and fix it for under $250 or so, which is the price for any 24" display with a cheap TN panel.

It may not be completely comparable to the Apple Studio Display, but it would have current connection options and a current warranty.

hi,

well the thing is i got it for free.
so i would really go spending 250 for an old one again...

like i said it works, jsut not at full brightness. Which is ok for me i guess since i never really use it on my MBP...

bought the ADC to DVI adapter from ebay. 30 Euros...

i think its a good match.

thanks anyways, i wont go repairing it...

best. m
