I'm trying to find a monitor for my dad's home office, and I have a few specific requirements:
  • 24" to 27"
  • single-cable (usb-c) for power, data, and video to a M1 MacBook Air
  • downstream usb-c (at least one)
  • downstream usb-a (at least one)
  • 4k is Ok but not necessary.
the only monitor I can find that meets these requirements is a Dell UltraSharp U2722DE 27", which is sold out except at B&H:

But $680 is a little more than we'd like to spend. Anyone aware of other options that meet these rather specific requirements? thank you!

It pretty much is: if you're looking for any sort of decent text rendering on macOS, you pretty much have to get a 4K or higher-resolution monitor. Text looks awful on a 2560×1440 monitor on macOS, especially compared to the MacBook Air's "Retina" display.

What about the Dell U2720Q? It "ticks all the boxes."
