I've got the 24" Cinema Display, and typically just keep my iphone's USB adapter plugged into the ACD's USB ports. One question though...
Does anyone know of a way to keep power flowing to the USB ports when the computer's not plugged in? It would be nice to not have to resort to plan b to charge my phone if the computer's not connected...
Strangely, I noticed that the iPhone no longer charges if I pull the USB connection between the ACD and my MBP. On the other hand, it keeps charging if I remove the MDP connection and the display goes to sleep.
I would have never guessed that apparently the USB ports losing power and the display essentially turning off were discrete events (almost suggesting that the sole source of power for the USB ports is the MBP).
What if I connected a powered USB hub to one of the open USB ports on the display? Any chance it would power the phone? I'm pretty sure it's OK, but is there any way I might hurt the display?!?!?
