There is a pretty good deal where I can buy a used 24" Cinema Display (latest model) locally. I read on the Apple site that this is an IPS panel (sweet). But is this a 6-bit or 8-bit panel.

Also, the seller still has a couple of years of Apple Care Protection on it. Will the warranty be automaticlaly transferrable to me or do I have to contact Apple and do something to get it transferred to my name?

I would guess its an 8-bit panel.

AppleCare is bound to the device's serial number regardless of ownership

Only TN panels come in the 6-bit variety so yes, the IPS panel in the 24" ACD is 8-bit.

If you don't mind me asking - how much are they asking?
