I believe the 24" Cinema Display has the same native resolution as the 17" MacBook Pro. Do most people find this resolution on a 24" screen acceptable? Does it "feel" grainy?

Heck no it looks freaking amazing if anything I think the resolution on the 17inch mbp to be too high and makes it hard to read and see where as the 24 cinema display looks just right. See for you self visit your local apple store.

I'm afraid that if I do that, I'll end up buying it. I'd go refurb though - $599 doesn't sound too bad for that particular display.

As previously posted, I think the issue is, the 17" MBP resolution is too high. Everything seems very tiny - I tried one in the Apple store and it started hurting my eyes. The 24" ACD however is just perfect.
