Hey pals,

So I'm looking for a monitor for my desk to use with my Macbook pro when I'm at it, I'm going to be clamshelling the machine vertically.

There are so many monitors out there, I'm looking for some recommendations to help me choose something since I know approximately |-this much-| about monitors.

My criteria:

- It's 24" - I could maybe push up to 26" but my desk space / work area really isn't practical for anything bigger, so only if it's an awesome buy in the budget.
- It costs no more than £200 (this could be pushed up to £250 but only for the right buy).
- Preferably it has 2 HDMI inputs, but this isn't a deal breaker (must have one though) as long as it has a DVI or VGA input as well.
- It is sexy in black.

Many thanks for you help wise ones.

Get a Dell UltraSharp U2412M 24"

Hi AndyK,

I've just this week replaced my 13" MacBook Air with a 13" Retina MacBook Pro and I brought a Dell UltraSharp U2412M 24" monitor to go with it, to do exactly what you're proposing, and it works a treat.

I did this rather than get a 27" iMac and then have to face buying another laptop.

The Dell came highly recommended by friends and colleagues who have the same (or the previous model) monitor - it's unobtrusive, sleep (and black) and highly adjustable - and all for £197!

I've connected it via Mini Display Port (Thunderbolt) to the monitor's Display Port

I got it from Amazon and it was £220 the week before.

I hope it works as well for you

Thanks a lot for the reply & actually responding with useful information. Considering one of those now myself, seem pretty solid.
