Hi all, and hope you had a good Christmas! I got a Macbook Pro to accompany my 24" iMac and I'm having an issue matching the screens - particularly the white point.

I used to calibrate my Mac screens with Spyder2Pro but the new glossy superbright displays don't work with the device any more so I'm stuck with doing it manually.

I've used the built-in calibrator in OSX on both my 24" iMac and 15" MBP, but the problem is with the white point setting. I've left both on the recommended 'native white point' of 6500 but as you can tell from this photo, the MBP screen is noticeably cooler than the iMac.

I can push the white point on both in opposite directions so that they sort of match, but this takes them considerably away from the recommended value of 6500 and they never really match. I suspect that the problem is more basic, that the panels used for the screens just differ too widely and will never match.

I'd prefer not to have to blow another £150 on the latest calibration hardware - is it possible to match the white point of these two screens a little closer without such expense?
