Not the usual 24 hr. Does that means refresh coming soon?

Nice observation. I certainly hope so.

Hope so too

The apple display line up has been very messy since they dropped the 20 and 23" models. 30" hasn't been updated for a while, the 24" is made for MacBooks.

Not exactly you can use Apple 24 inch on macbook, Macbook Pros, mac mini, Mac Pro (with ATi 4870 or GT120) and imac, just as long it's supports Apple's mini display port

Yes, but it's clearly aimed at laptop users. It states that it was made for the MacBooks, and includes a Magsafe charger.

I keep going round in circles, the 30" is bigger than I need and more expensive etc, the 24" would require expense of a graphics card upgrade and paying for unnecessary features.

It isn't a matter of what it works with, because obviously you can use it with machines other than the laptops.

It is a matter of the display being designed to work with laptops.

1. Short cables making it less than ideal for connecting to a Mac Pro.
2. Magsafe, only used by laptops meaning you have to leave it dangling in the back
