I dont know if anyone knows about this or it has been posted on here beofre but if you have a mouse with a scroll wheel, hold down the ctrl button and scroll in and the monitor zooms in, you can then use the mouse to move around the screen. Scroll out to return to the origional desktop.

Great fun but very useful for photo editors I imagine.

Yep, was first a feature with the wireless mighty mouse but was integrated into the OS with 10.4.8

Interesting.. does it also work with two-finger-scrolling with trackpads I wonder? (I don't yet have 10.4.8, so can't check).

I have just found a great use for this... Remote access, it really screws with people using the machine you are accessing, ha ha ha

Wow, didn't know about that trick! Shows the power and flexibility of Open GL and Apple's GUI!

Another trick to show off to potential switchers! :D

i noticed that the day after i got my imac.

PS: it works on 10.4.7 to, thats what i first noticed it on.;)

Oooooooooo me likes me some of that:)

*off to porn sites to try it some more*

Yep, heard about this. Think it was mentioned in the current issue of Macworld. Is that were you saw it too?

I got this when i got a new keyboard, n pressed the wrong key while scrolling...

i then thought i was stupid that i didnt notice this before...

now i knew im not... thanks

Would (Will ?) be absolutely amazing with a proper resolution independent display. Hypothetically it could be able to maximise everything except raster images indefinitely. I'd be hugely impressed if they could implement this in Leopard, but as it doesn't seem to be mentioned in any of the beta's it seems unlikely now. Shame

heh

that's cool. I knew this worked with the Mighty Mouse, but I had no idea that it would work with my MX1000
I'm sure glad it does! This is sooo useful!

No longer are the days of everyone huddling around the screen to watch a cat hit a fan on Gootube.

this will be good when apple brings out the 17" MBP with a screen res of 1920x1200, you can see everything or just bits bigger

there's another cool part of this. Once you zoom in on any page, you can use one finger (on a trackpad) to move that zoomed page around your window. It's a great little feature if you've got a photo blown up (or if you're blind, I guess).

It's awesome on a 24" iMac which has a screen resolution of 1920x1200.

Woah.

I was reading this thread and I thought "what the heck I'll give it a try on Windows XP".

And it worked.

:D

EDIT: I've only tried it in Firefox, which it works in. It doesn't work on my desktop.
