I use a Spotlight search for only one purpose — launching apps. Swipe, typing one or two letters from the app name — and it's here. This is the only way I am interacting with my iPhone. My home screen is empty. I use it in this way from the very beginning (iPhone 4 or 3Gs).
I don't want to see browsing history, hundreds of useless shortcuts, photos, reminders, apps, ads, and other crap.
Because of that, every time I reinstall iOS or install a new app (yes, every single time), I go to Settings, Siri, and switch off "Show Content in Search" (and other items except "Show App in Search").
Starting somewhere around iOS 16, Apple broke this perfectly working mechanism. In 17.x it became a disaster.
Every day, I find a new app with new "cool features."
The only way to fix it is to switch on/off and reboot my phone.
But in a couple of hours — surprise, another shiny "You can get directions in our app" or "Resume your audiobook."
It's a rambling, and it's impossible to fix. I don't want to change myself to eat all this Microsoft-style crap.
Am I alone in this struggle?
I am seriously considering switching to Android because of this issue...
