Following in the wake of great deals on AirPods and Apple Watch, Amazon today also introduced $50 discounts on nearly every model of Apple's 11th generation iPad. Prices now start at $299.00 for the 128GB Wi-Fi iPad, down from $349.00, a new record low price.

Additionally, Amazon has the 256GB Wi-Fi iPad for $399.00 and the 512GB Wi-Fi iPad for $599.00, both $50 discounts and new all-time low prices.

There are also numerous discounts on cellular models, starting at $449.00 for the 128GB model. Amazon is providing an estimated delivery of early may for free shipping, while Prime members should be able to get the tablets before the end of April.

The 11th generation iPad is mainly a spec bump for the tablet line, now featuring the A16 chip and more storage, with the same design as the 10th generation iPad. The new ‌iPad‌ starts with 128GB of storage, and is also available in 256GB and a new 512GB configuration. The previous model was only available in 64GB and 256GB configurations.

As an Amazon Associate, MacRumors earns a commission from qualifying purchases made through links in this post.
This was the same thing computer magazines did when I worked for Radio Shack in the early 1980s.
Prices were lower than what Radio Shack charged. The ads were in the back and there were plenty.
If Amazon can give deep price cuts, then Apple needs to charge them more.
I can't imagine the iPad being a "Loss Leader."
I follow a Chrome OS website and prices are all over the place.
Seems to be more of a Best Buy thing and sometimes you must actually go there.
The idea that Apple does not discount products because Steve Jobs didn't may not make sense today.
Even the refurbished products are only 15% off typically.
Then again, the free services from Apple when a product is purchased is something no one else can do.
Smart! On the other hand, sometimes just about a $30-ish value.
A $50 discount on the base iPad is something of a deal, but perhaps no biggie on the more expensive stuff.
But, I am just Joe Consumer and can't tell Apple what to do.

I 100% agree the Apple experience is worth the extra money. I have always had PC’s and Mac’s in my office. Multiples of each. I’m 60 and as much as I like geeking out with everything I finally decided it’s time to just settle down with my Mac’s. Been on them since System 7. I grew tired of the constant os updates Windows was pushing. Anyhow just sold one, gave my daughter a Think Pad, and gave a good friend a HP Z2. I’m down to a Studio, M2 Pro Mini and an IPad. Works great for me and is way less time consuming.

I can see the low end iPad as a loss leader. Get you hooked into the ecosystem, then you realize you need some feature on the Air or a Pro, or maybe even a MacBook. However, I suspect Apple still makes a decent profit on it even at Amazon prices. Tooling on the SOC and the case/screen are all paid for by previous iPhones and iPads. Just keep the production lines running.

I'm a bit tempted to get the 11 myself, but my ninth generation still works fine and has a headphone jack. Ruthless pruning of unneeded stuff has half my 64 GB of storage still free.

It might be nice to enjoy the Apple experience if you can afford it.
My budget requires me to pay better attention to my dollar for dollar spending.
Yeah, some will down vote me, as expected, but it is my money or the lack thereof.
Your inventory is out of my price range. Must be nice to do so.
I would like to have a used iPad and mini.
The older the product, at a price suitable to me, won't last as long.

I have the iPad 7 with 32 GB and it struggles but still works.
Would be fine with more storage. Love the headphone jack and the big home button. I've had to prune storage to almost nothing. After the iPad OS updates are finished for me (iPad OS 18), I can put some other apps back.
The requirement for the updates are huge and I can't go to iPad OS 19.
While I enjoy the lower cost of Android, the iPad is still the best. (Need to save my S&H Green Stamps). <giggles to anyone who has a clue what I'm talking about.>

Definitely got to be careful of what you post on this site.

Do you remember like a month ago someone made an iJustine joke and the MR editor came out of the woodwork to respond? Funniest thing ever. Really showed how sensitive they were to our regular normal everyday opinions.
Anyways, this is a good deal for someone in need of an iPad, however the 9th gen is still phenomenal and am glad I bought one for my folks… I however can’t use an iPad without a laminated display.

What does the laminated display do you for you? Is it just the glare from the regular display that is too much? Because that's the only I notice get reduced with the laminated display. It doesn't fix the temporal dithering issue which is a problem for me.

Have a 10th gen at home that i had to buy for my kid's school (they require an ipad) last year. Can't complain except for that the 11 should've come out last year :p

$299 for the 11 is very sharp, and would be what id recommend to anyone if they needed an ipad. The air is double the price and for our use case it just isn't worth the extra money.

Which app is displayed in the article on the iPad?
I used ChatGPT to ask the question by pasting a screenshot of the App

“The app shown in the image is Concepts.
It’s a popular sketching, illustration, and design app available for iPad and other platforms. The interface, with the circular tool menus and precision drawing tools (like grids and measurement markers), matches the style of Concepts.”

Dear MacRumors’ editor, do you think four advertisement posts in a row is perhaps excessive? Because I do.
It costs a lot to keep a site alive and running. At least we have the option for scrolling away ads. Many sites do force you to watch ads to get access. So, I don’t mind. (As I am from Sweden, I know that those discounts are not available here)

I like the idea of the prices getting cheaper. But buying very expensive items like this on Amazon I don’t do. I’ll buy accessories, but I won’t buy anything like this from Apple.

I have one in near-mint condition sitting in a drawer with the same specs. Even stripping away most of what I had on it, I couldn't update the OS. It's a shame, because I would have been able to use it a year or two longer if it had a bit more storage.

I did the opposite of you I have a iPad 9 my self and while I loved using it the battery could not go very long without being plugged in and it had a hard time running iOS 18 my was 64 gigs to but I was running out of space for the apps I needed so I upgraded to the iPad 11 and love it 128 gigs is nice to have and a bigger battery can last longer without plugging in to charge and saved money reusing my Apple Pencil 1 with it may not have ai but does what I need it to do!
