Apple is updating the Maps app with insights, ratings, and reviews from expert sources, with the aim of helping users find top-ranked restaurants, hotels, and more.

There are now options to search for and view Michelin-starred, Green Star, and Bib Gourmand restaurants, along with Michelin Key hotels. As of right now, the search options are available for locations in the U.S., but Apple plans to expand them to additional regions in the future. Searching for Michelin restaurants and hotels can be done with the filters feature in the Maps app.
"MICHELIN Guide, The Infatuation, and Golf Digest are leading industry experts that consumers rely on for finding the best restaurants, hotels, and golf courses, and we're excited to bring their valuable insights and accolades to our users in Apple Maps," said David Dorn, Apple's senior director of Internet Software and Services Product. "These new integrations make Maps an even more useful and seamless resource for users to discover great new places whether in their hometown or traveling somewhere new."
Apple also plans to add rankings and insights from The Infatuation and Golf Digest to Maps, along with additional expert sources.

Apple says that place cards in the Maps app will show distinctions, descriptions, and images from expert sources. For select hotels, users will be able to book directly from the Maps app, and Apple will soon introduce options to schedule restaurant reservations through Michelin and tee times through Supreme Golf.

The new information will come up in searches for various places, but Apple also has curated Maps guides from Michelin Guide, The Infatuation, and Golf Digest.

"expert sources" Pfft!

Waiting until these "experts" find out about a business to try them out means missing out on a lot of great foods. How long did it take these experts to come across this Taquería that's now Michelin-starred?

Glad to see Apple keeps improving maps. I love Look Around. So much better than Google’s Street View. But it only exists in major cities whereas Street View is nearly everywhere. They need to get Look Around in more places.

I wish Apple would focus on improving its directions feature instead of all these useless add-ons. Apple maps often sends me on wild goose chases when I enter a destination. Sometimes it sends me to the wrong address, other times it sends me on wild detours that adds many miles to my trip. Sad to say that Google Maps still works much better for way finding.

I thought this was TikTok's and Instagram's job, turning eateries into viral sensations, besides as already stated the process of discovery is to old and slow, the internet has blown this all away

I live in Manchester, UK. I just opened Apple Maps and it says "London's top gourmet hotel picks", "Where Jonathan Nunn eats in London" (who's he?), and "Best free things to do in London".

To give a US comparison, that's like somebody in New Hampshire opening the app and seeing recommendations for New York.

Apple Maps will frequently suggest bizarre locations when I search, too, wasting my time. Yes, I appreciate there might be a street or place in North Dakota with that name, but I'm looking for ones closer to me.

Right now in Apple Maps, it's saying my car is parked 1.1 miles away. It's right here at my home.

Outside the US, Apple Maps is still very poor. I'd love to use it more because of the tight integration with iOS but, although it also has faults, Google Maps is still light years ahead.

Apple never really caught up with the basics and instead went off to fairyland with flyover and 3D mapping.

Given what's been said about the reorganisations in the Siri/AI team recently, I think Apple has a fundamental problem with managing teams. Product leaders just have too much autonomy to follow their tails, and don't seem to be answerable to users and what they need. Everybody has been saying Siri is useless for coming up for a decade, now. Ditto Apple Maps. Why isn't Apple hearing this?

Not everyone is struggling...

That said, McDonald's brought this on itself. They priced themselves beyond what their crappy food is worth.
Like everything else in this country, Corporate America ruins everything by over analyzing itself and expecting unrealistic profits for shareholders and always screwing the worker.
Its the same every time.
The divide between the rich and poor and religious NONsenses has got to go away for civilization to move forward.

I guess when you are set to have a documentary about chef's trying to attain Michelin Stars you should add it to your Maps app.

Didn't ask for this, don't need it, Apple is just wasting time and money here... Oh come on man!
